Kevin Durant’s exchange with a fan sitting courtside for a recent Nets game is costing him money.
Durant was fined $25,000, the NBA announced on Friday. The league said in its statement that Durant was fined for “directing obscene language toward a fan.”

A fan sitting courtside for Wednesday’s Brooklyn Nets-Dallas Mavericks game at the Barclays Center told Durant to “take over.” The Nets forward responded by telling the fan to “shut the f— up and sit down.”
The incident was captured on video and went viral, which led to negative attention for Durant (watch it here).
The Nets forward is making $40.9 million this season, so losing $25,000 means nothing to him. But the NBA is hoping that the fine is enough to let him know that kind of behavior is unacceptable.
